Zay, an Espanola native, came to UNM Children’s Hospital in an emergency situation via helicopter last September and her life has never been the same.

Despite her illness, Zay is a happy and seriously funny girl. You will often find her dancing, smiling, and doing the “rock eyebrow.”  While Zay has A LOT of friends on the clinical staff at UNM she has a special place in her heart for our Child Life Specialists. Pictured above, Jen and Zay love to make slime with, and I quote, “an evil amount of glitter, because glitter is life.”

Similar to Cyan, Zay spends a lot of her time at UNM in the Infusion Department. This means long and exhausting days receiving life saving medication. On top of that, Zay and her Mom often drive back and forth to Espanola after a long day of treatment. This means time off work and away from the rest of their family.
